...Say nothing but the truth about ALLAH...(Qur'an 4:171)

Do not pursue what you have no knowledge of.

Hearing, sight and hearts will all be questioned.(Qur'an 17:36)

Those who listen well to what is said and follow the best of it, they are the ones whom Allah has guided, they are the people of intelligence. (Qur'an 39:18)

...Say, ‘Produce your evidence if you are telling the truth.’ (Qur'an 2:111)

...Say: 'Produce your proof! This is the message of those with me and the message of those before me.' But most of them do not know the truth, so they turn away. (Qur'an 21:24)

...Say: ‘Bring your proof if you are being truthful.’ (Qur'an 27:64)

Anything correct and good in this article is only due to ALLAH, and any mistake or error is due to me.

ALLAH is enough to Judge Yazeed and hold him accountable for his deeds.

Refutation of Dr Zakir Naik and IRF's stance on Yazeed bin Muawiya.

Background of the issue:

Dr Zakir Naik started the issue on 2nd December 2007, in a lecture by publicly saying May ALLAH be pleased with him for Yazeed and called karbala a political battle. The gathering was huge and the program went live via Peace TV.

Then the issue was spread and when Dr Zakir Naik returned from Hajj, after his approval and permission, the official clarification was issued from IRF via Manzoor Shaikh and Ather Khan in almost similar wordings. This time Radi Allahu Anhu was used and it was translated by IRF in brackets as May ALLAH be Pleased with him. After months Nisaar Nadiadwaala of IRF came back and said "...The way the shia maligned Dr. Zakir Naik via Yazid episode is something the Sunnis should take it seriously..."

Why is the case being created against Dr Zakir Naik and IRF:

Why and how can they say RA: Radi Allaahu Anhu which in English can be translated as Well Pleased is ALLAH with him, for a person like Yazeed. Its not an issue of some one who has passed by and that's all, its about saying something about ALLAH without sufficient or irrefutable proofs regarding a person like Yazeed. Its about the great martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain (RA) and his companions whose sacrifice for the cause of true Islam will never be forgotten, and they didn't die for nothing, and will always be a source of motivation for those struggling to establish ALLAH's System, Islam in its true form. And it is Dr Zakir Naik who started the issue , by alleging that ALLAH is Well Pleased with Yazeed or publicly praying by name for Yazeed which has opened up something that has to be tackled, because he is alleging something to my King, ALLAH about which he has no irrefutable proof and that too regarding a person like Yazeed.

...Say nothing but the truth about Allah...(Qur'an 4:171)

Do not pursue what you have no knowledge of. Hearing, sight and hearts will all be questioned. (Qur'an 17:36)

He (Satan) only commands you to do evil and indecent acts and to say about Allah what you do not know. (Qur'an 2:169)

...Have you authority to say this or are you saying about Allah what you do not know? (Qur'an 10:68) Say: ‘People who invent lies against Allah will not be successful.’ (Qur'an 10:69)

Who could do greater wrong than someone who invents lies against Allah or denies the truth when it comes to him? Is there not shelter in Hell for the kafirun? (Qur'an 29:68)

(Say,) ‘You are people arguing about something of which you have no knowledge. Why do you argue about something of which you have no knowledge? Allah knows; you do not know.’ (Qur'an 3:66)

Extractions from the above clarifications:

From Reference Link 2:

1. Dr Zakir Naik's approval understood:

27th December, 2007 PRESS RELEASE (As Dr. Zakir Naik was on Hajj Pilgrimage and returned on 26th Dec. 2007 he could not respond and clarify to the issue raised earlier).

Comments:

They (i.e. IRF) waited for Dr Zakir Naik to return before giving a press release on the issue which means Dr Zakir Naik's approval was given before issuing the press release or official clarification regarding the issue from IRF side.

2. Allegation on Ahl-us-Sunnah wal Jama'ah by Dr Zakir Naik:

Irrespective of the difference of opinion on this issue in Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah yet it is unanimously agreed that one can say RadhiAllahu Anhu (May Allah be please with him) for Yazeed.

Refutation and comments:

1. The above statement by IRF is a lie and can be understood by any logical person after doing a little research that Ahl-us-Sunnah can be split into 3 major groups regarding the issue and only a very minority group of scholars say these words for Yazeed and the majority of Ahl-us-Sunnah scholars don't say RA with Yazeed and some even curse Yazeed. i.e. these 2 are extreme sunni groups one extreme cursing Yazeed, and 1 extreme alleging that ALLAH is well pleased with Yazeed without any evidence which can be used to prove ALLAH is Pleased with Yazeed.

2. A popular QA site , clarifies the actual stance of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah on Yazeed and criticizes the 2 extreme stances 1 of which is being taken by IRF and Dr Zakir Naik to some extent.

Our attitude towards Yazeed ibn Mu’aawiyah

Question:
I heard of this person Yazeed Ibn Muawiyah. I heard that he once a calipha of the muslims and he was a drunken sadistic person, who was not really a muslim. Is this true? Please tell me his story. Thank you and may allah bless you.

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

His name was Yazeed ibn Mu’aawiyah ibn Abi Sufyaan ibn Harb ibn Umayaah al-Umawi al-Dimashqi.

Al-Dhahabi said: he was the commander of that army during the campaign against Constantinople, among which were people such as Abu Ayyoob al-Ansaari. Yazeed was appointed by his father as his heir, so he took power after his father died in Rajab 60 AH at the age of thirty-three, but his reign lasted for less than four years.

Yazeed is one of those whom we neither curse nor love. There are others like him among the khaleefahs of the two states (Umawi/Umayyad and ‘Abbaasi/Abbasid) and the governors of various regions, indeed there were some among them who were worse than him. But the issue in the case of Yazeed is that he was came to power forty-nine years after the death of the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him); it was still close to the time of the Prophet and some of the Sahaabah were still alive such as Ibn ‘Umar who was more entitled to the position than him or his father or his grandfather.

His reign began with the killing of the martyr al-Husayn and it ended with the battle of al-Harrah, so the people hated him and he was not blessed with a long life. There were many revolts against him after al-Husayn, such as the people of Madeenah who revolted for the sake of Allaah, and Ibn al-Zubayr.

(Siyar A’laam al-Nubalaa’, part 4, p. 38)

Shaykh al-Islam described people’s attitudes towards Yazeed ibn Mu’aawiyah, and said:

The people differed concerning Yazeed ibn Mu’aawiyah ibn Abi Sufyaan, splitting into three groups, two extreme and one moderate.

One of the two extremes said that he was a kaafir and a munaafiq, that he strove to kill the grandson of the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to spite the Messenger of Allaah and to take revenge on him, and to avenge his grandfather ‘Utbah, his grandfather’s brother Shaybah and his maternal uncle al-Waleed ibn ‘Utbah and others who were killed by the companions of the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), by ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib and others on the day of Badr and in other battles – and things of that nature. To have such a view is easy for the Raafidis who regard Abu Bakr, ‘Umar and ‘Uthmaan as kaafirs, so it is much easier for them to regard Yazeed as a kaafir.

The second extreme group think that he was a righteous man and a just leader, that he was one of the Sahaabah who were born during the time of the Prophet and were carried and blessed by him. Some of them give him a higher status than Abu Bakr and ‘Umar, and some of them regard him as a prophet. Both views are obviously false to one who has the least common sense and who has any knowledge of the lives and times of the earliest Muslims. This view is not attributable to any of the scholars who are known for following the Sunnah or to any intelligent person who has reason and experience.

The third view is that he was one of the kings of the Muslims, who did good deeds and bad deeds. He was not born until the caliphate of ‘Uthmaan. He was not a kaafir but it was because of him that the killing of al-Husayn happened, and he did what he did to the people of al-Harrah. He was not a Sahaabi, nor was he one of the righteous friends of Allaah. This is the view of most of the people of reason and knowledge and of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah.

Then they divided into three groups, one which cursed him, one which loved him and one which neither cursed him nor loved him. This is what was reported from Imaam Ahmad, and this is the view of the fair-minded among his companions and others among the Muslims. Saalih ibn Ahmad said: I said to my father, some people say that they love Yazeed. He said, O my son, does anyone love Yazeed who believes in Allaah and the Last Day? I said, O my father, why do you not curse him? He said, O my son, when did you ever see your father curse anybody?

Abu Muhammad al-Maqdisi said, when he was asked about Yazeed: according to what I have heard he is neither to be cursed nor to be loved. He said, I also heard that our grandfather Abu ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Taymiyah was asked about Yazeed and he said: we do not deny his good qualities or exaggerate about them. This is the fairest opinion.

Islam Q&A
Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid

Quotation ends above.

Islam QA clearly says: This is the view of most of the people of reason and knowledge and of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah for only the moderate view given below:

he was one of the kings of the Muslims, who did good deeds and bad deeds. He was not born until the caliphate of ‘Uthmaan. He was not a kaafir but it was because of him that the killing of al-Husayn happened, and he did what he did to the people of al-Harrah. He was not a Sahaabi, nor was he one of the righteous friends of Allaah.

3. Mistranslation of RadhiAllahu Anhu by Dr Zakir Naik:

Irrespective of the difference of opinion on this issue in Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah yet it is unanimously agreed that one can say RadhiAllahu Anhu (May Allah be please with him) for Yazeed.

Refutation and comments:

Radi Allahu Anhu can be translated in English as Well Pleased is ALLAH with him and can not be translated as May ALLAH be pleased with him.

Meaning of RA i.e. Radi Allaahu Anhu

Is Fail Maazi (Past/Perfect) not Fail Mazare (Present/Future)

i.e. it can't be translated in present or future but as past and perfect i.e. an event which has happened

i.e. Well Pleased is ALLAH with him

and can't be translated as May ALLAH be pleased with him which is merely a prayer.

In Qur'an when it is stated as:

Surah 9: Ayat 100

...Rađiya Allāhu `Anhum Wa Rađū `Anhu ...

Translations for this portion quoted here:

Pickthal: - Allah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Him

Yusuf Ali: well-pleased is Allah with them, as are they with Him

Muhsin Khan: Allah is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him.

Sahih International:- Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him

So if Dr Zakir Naik or Ather Khan or any IRF person says RA with Yazeed . They are saying ALLAH is (definitely) well pleased with him (Yazeed) which is an allegation on ALLAH's independent decision which needs solid proofs to make such a claim.

4. The only evidence from Hadith quoted in defense of Yazeed which itself is mixed up with other things i.e. the assertion that Yazeed was commander or participated in any of these are not in a single Hadith:

Yazeed was also the commander of the Muslim army, which went to fight the battle of Constantinople, which was predicted by the Prophet (pbuh) himself along with the glad tidings, “Paradise will be granted to the first batch of my followers who will undertake a naval operation.” [Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 4 Book of Jihad Hadith 2924].

Refutation and comments:

Regarding 1st Naval operation and Yazeed was not commander, IRF must note:

Sahih Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 52, Number 56: Narrated Anas bin Malik: Um Haram said, "Once the Prophet slept in my house near to me and got up smiling. I said, 'What makes you smile?' He replied, 'Some of my followers who (i.e. in a dream) were presented to me sailing on this green sea like kings on thrones.' I said, 'O Allah's Messenger! Invoke Allah to make me one of them." So the Prophet invoked Allah for her and went to sleep again. He did the same (i.e. got up and told his dream) and Um Haran repeated her question and he gave the same reply. She said, "Invoke Allah to make me one of them." He said, "You are among the first batch." Later on it happened that she went out in the company of her husband 'Ubada bin As-Samit who went for Jihad and it was the first time the Muslims undertook a naval expedition led by Muawiya. When the expedition came to an end and they were returning to Sham, a riding animal was presented to her to ride, but the animal let her fall and thus she died.

Who lead the first Naval expedition? Hazrat Muawiya not Yazeed.

Now the confusion regarding the translation made as Caesar and the following Hadith of Sahih Bukhari:

Sahih Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 52, Number 175: Narrated Khalid bin Madan: That 'Umair bin Al-Aswad Al-Anasi told him that he went to 'Ubada bin As-Samit while he was staying in his house at the sea-shore of Hims with (his wife) Um Haram. 'Umair said. Um Haram informed us that she heard the Prophet saying, "Paradise is granted to the first batch of my followers who will undertake a naval expedition." Um Haram added, I said, 'O Allah's Messenger! Will I be amongst them?' He replied, 'You are amongst them.' The Prophet then said, 'The first army amongst' my followers who will invade Caesar's City will be forgiven their sins.' I asked, 'Will I be one of them, O Allah's Messenger?' He replied in the negative."

i. First of all, leave the issue whether Yazid was in the campaigns or not. Can a single general Hadith in which the name of the person hasn't even been taken be used to guarantee Paradise for that ambiguous person

Remember when Ibrahim was tested by his LORD with certain words which he carried out completely. HE said, ‘I will make you a model for mankind.’ He asked, ‘And what of my descendants?’ HE said, ‘My contract does not include the wrongdoers. (Qur'an 2:124)

Single Hadith usage out of context and without taking into account other teachings of Islam to come to a conclusion is illogical and wrong.

The conclusive KO blow to those who guarantee Paradise for Yazeed based indirectly on a Hadith in which Yazeed is not even mentioned is another Hadith:

Narrated Abu Bakr bin Abi Musa:
My father said, "Allah's Messenger said, 'Whoever prays the two cool prayers ('Asr and Fajr) will go to Paradise.' " (Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 10, Number 548)

If some one prays 2 cool prayers throughout his life, will any one say he will definitely go to Paradise based on this Hadith. What if he only prays these 2 prayers throughout his life and doesn't pray other prayers. What is he says he doesn't believe in the remaining teachings of Islam and only believes in 2 prayers. The answer is, Islam is not based on this Hadith alone and has many other teachings given in the Qur'an and Authentic Hadith.

Paradise has some conditions and the conclusive/independent condition is Mercy of ALLAH.

It is understood that other conditions set in The Qur'an and the vast body of Hadith also need to be considered, and, as some sects, although the approach of using Qur'an & Authentic Hadeeth is good but sometimes, some scholars from them oversimplify & start basing their judgements on isolated Hadith without thoroughly analyzing other related teachings of Islam before making a judgement.

So even if we go by this way, Yazeed can't be guaranteed paradise. But wait we have other evidences.

ii. The actual hadith wording and analysis of relevant hadith :

Sahih Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 52, Number 175: ... 'The first army amongst' my followers who will invade Caesar's City will be forgiven their sins.'...

(Arabic font needs to be installed for reading the following properly)

The Hadith in question has variants but lets first focus on the exact Hadith which does use the word Maghfoor.

أول جيش من أمتي يغزون مدينة قيصرمغفور لهم

Anyway the relevant Arabic words used above is Madeena Qaisar and Maghfoor

Now what is the meaning of Madeena Qaisar. The Hadith in question mentions مدينة قيصر Madeena Qaisar which simply means the city of Caesar (Rome), The city of Rome could be any city of this country. It does not have to be Constantinople.

In any Lughat (Arabic Dictionary) the meaning of the city of Caesar is not only the Constantinople. There used to be many cities. I hope this point is now crystal clear.

Now with that point clarified, lets get back to the Hadith in question. This Hadith is indeed found in Sahih of Bukhari, but this does not mean there aren't shadh (i.e. ahadith with variants, so if 1 hadith has a wording different to overwhelming same ahadith with matn then that 1 single hadith is not considered as a basis on even minor issues leave alone sending Yazid into Paradise)

Not a single other Hadith which has the same Matn uses the word Maghfoor (‏مغفور), Those who know the Usool of hadith sciences must have understood by now why a Shadh word (note: not hadith in this case) is not to be applied on everyone taking part in the battle, It will be applied only on that person who deserve to be in Jannah (i.e. their other actions were worthy of achieving jannah or not)

The Hadith regarding praise of First army which would invade Caesar's city has all the Narrators from Shaam only as Imam Ibn Hajr al Asqalani (rah) rightly proves in his Fath al Bari by saying والإسناد كله شاميون

Note: A word being unacceptable does not mean Imam Bukhari narrated with weak chain, its just shadh (variance of wording making it unacceptable) though the matn of hadith is accepted through other ahadith which does not include the word ‏مغفور in it.

iii. Relevant Historical Data :

Let’s look at the History:

Regarding 1st Naval Fleet, Yazeed was not in that fleet see as also written above Sahih Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 52, Number 56. Hazrat Muawia (RA) lead the fleet.

Yazeed was born during the Caliphate of Uthmaan (RA), not before that.

Regarding first army that will invade city of Caesar (Rome) i.e. مدينة قيصر  lets see.  Hazrat Umar (RA) himself sent armies to various regions including Caesar / Rome .

Sahih Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 53, Number 386: Narrated Jubair bin Haiya: 'Umar sent the Muslims to the great countries to fight the pagans. When Al-Hurmuzan embraced Islam, 'Umar said to him. "I would like to consult you regarding these countries which I intend to invade." Al-Hurmuzan said, "Yes, the example of these countries and their inhabitants who are the enemies. of the Muslims, is like a bird with a head, two wings and two legs; If one of its wings got broken, it would get up over its two legs, with one wing and the head; and if the other wing got broken, it would get up with two legs and a head, but if its head got destroyed, then the two legs, two wings and the head would become useless. The head stands for Khosrau, and one wing stands for Caesar and the other wing stands for Faris. So, order the Muslims to go towards Khosrau." So, 'Umar sent us (to Khosrau) appointing An-Numan bin Muqrin as our commander. When we reached the land of the enemy, the representative of Khosrau came out with forty-thousand warriors, and an interpreter got up saying, "Let one of you talk to me!" Al-Mughira replied, "Ask whatever you wish." The other asked, "Who are you?" Al-Mughira replied, "We are some people from the Arabs; we led a hard, miserable, disastrous life: we used to suck the hides and the date stones from hunger; we used to wear clothes made up of fur of camels and hair of goats, and to worship trees and stones. While we were in this state, the Lord of the Heavens and the Earths, Elevated is His Remembrance and Majestic is His Highness, sent to us from among ourselves a Prophet whose father and mother are known to us. Our Prophet, the Messenger of our Lord, has ordered us to fight you till you worship Allah Alone or give Jizya (i.e. tribute); and our Prophet has informed us that our Lord says:-- "Whoever amongst us is killed (i.e. martyred), shall go to Paradise to lead such a luxurious life as he has never seen, and whoever amongst us remain alive, shall become your master." (Al-Mughira, then blamed An-Numan for delaying the attack and) An-Nu' man said to Al-Mughira, "If you had participated in a similar battle, in the company of Allah's Messenger he would not have blamed you for waiting, nor would he have disgraced you. But I accompanied Allah's Messenger in many battles and it was his custom that if he did not fight early by daytime, he would wait till the wind had started blowing and the time for the prayer was due (i.e. after midday)."

There are few things that we have to look at:

Firstly, The first army that went to the City of Caesar (Rome) was in the period of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alahi wa Alihi Wa Sallam) in 8th Hijra. The Commander was Hazrath Syedna Zaid bin Harith (Radhi allahu Anhu). In this war, Prophet (pbuh) informed the martyrdoms of Hazrath Syedna Jafar Al-Tayyar, Zaid bin Harith, and Abdullah bin Rawaha (Radhi Allahu Anhum) to the Sahaba before the news arrive to madina.

Even if we take the meaning of city of Caesar to its Capitol (Humus), than it was conquered in the period of Hazrat Umar (RA) , in 16 Hijra. The Commander was Syedna Abu Ubaida. Sayyidina Yazid bin Abusufyan (RTA) joined in this army.
Yazeed bin Muawiya was not even born then.

Many people get confused with Yazid. Yazid bin Abusufyan is different than Yazid bin Muawiyah. Yazid bin Abu Sufyan was a Pious Sahabi. There is no comparison between Yazid bin Muawiyyah and Yazid bin Abusufyan. Yazid bin Abu Sufyan was much closed to Syedna Abu Dardaa. Yazid bin Abu Sufyan died in 18 hijra.

Some say that Abu Dardaa was the best friend of Yazid. Please remember that this was Yazid bin Abusufyan not Yazid bin Muawiyyah. Abu dardaa died in 30 or 32 Hijri.

Anyway, The glad tidings goes to the conquerors of Humus according to the Hadith if taken this way and Yazeed bin Muawiya is not even born then.

Now if we talk of the city of Constantinople only and not any other city of Caesar Rome. If there is a doubt that this glad tidings of forgiveness goes only to the army of Constantinople (Qustuntunia). Even though it is not acceptable, and it is illogical to allege that it is constantinople and nothing else, but answer for that illogical claim is available too.

Don't get confused, this time I am only referring to Constantinople (Qustuntunia). And not any city of Caesar or capital of Ceasar.

Readers, please remember the glad tiding is for the first army that goes to the city of Caesar (Rome) according to hadith (not necessarily Constantinople but no harm refuting this baseless allegation too). There were many attacks on Constantinople (Qustuntunia) performed by others, before Yazid bin Muawiya joined the army as a soldier or a leader whatever he was.

The first time was in the period of Hazrath Syedna Osman (Radhi Allahu Anhu). According to Ibn Katheer, Amir Muawiyyah (Radhi Allah Anhu) was the leader of the army in 32 Hijra.

Second time, according to Ibn Katheer and other Islamic historians, the army was lead by Abdullah bin Abi Artaat in 42 Hijra. Yazid bin Muawiyyah was not in this army.

One attack was in 43 and Hazrat Bosr ben Abi Arka was the leader of this army. Yazid bin Muawiyah not in this army eithher.

Then, the army went to Constantinople in 44 Hijra. The leader was Abdul-Rahmaan bin Khalid bin Waleed. Yazid bin Muawiyya was not in this army either.

Then, the army also lead by Abdul-Rahmaan bin Khalid bin Waleed in 46 Hijra.

In 47 next attack was led by Maalik ben Hobaira and Abdurehman ben Qaiymi.

According to Sunan Abi Dawood, Abdul-Rahmaan bin Khalid bin Waleed died in 47 Hijra.

In 49 hijri rome was attacked for 3 times.

So Yazeed was in the seventh or eighth or even a later attack (if the 3 attacks in 49 hijri as taken as unique attacks), not in the first attack according to this data.

And the way Yazeed participated in the late attack according to Ibn Atheer
In Tareekh Kamil, Volume 3, Ibn Atheer states that in 50 Hijri, Muawiyyah (RA) sent huge army to Caesar (Rome) and appointed Sufyan bin Au’f as leader of the army. He also ordered his son Yazid to join the army. Yazid made excuses and said that he was feeling ill. Muawiyyah freed him. During the war the army suffered with illness and shortage of supplies. When Yazid heard of this calamity, he started singing by saying “I have no care for the soldiers hardship in the place of Farookhdana, where they are suffering with fever and many calamities. Here I am enjoying with Umme Kulthum on the throne of Dair Marran.” Umme Kulthum was the daughter of Abdullah bin Amir and wife of Yazid. When Muawiyyah heard Yazid, he sworn to send Yazid to Sufyan bin Au’f, so he can experience the part of the pain.

5. Killing even 1 believer deliberately, how many believers were deliberately killed in Yazeed's reign:

As for anyone who kills a believer deliberately, his repayment is Hell, remaining in it timelessly, for ever. Allah is angry with him and has cursed him, and has prepared for him a terrible punishment. (Qur'an 4:93)

A believer should never kill another believer unless it is by mistake... (Qur'an 4:92)

... So We decreed for the tribe of Israel that if someone kills another person–unless it is in retaliation for someone else or for causing corruption in the earth–it is as if he had murdered all mankind. And if anyone gives life to another person, it is as if he had given life to all mankind. Our Messengers came to them with Clear Signs but even after that many of them committed outrages in the earth. (Qur'an 5:32)

Do not kill any person Allah has made inviolate, except with the right to do so. If someone is wrongly killed We have given authority to his next of kin. But he should not be excessive in taking life. He will be helped. (Qur'an 17:33)

6. More Ayaat translations:

You who believe! Retaliation is prescribed for you in the case of people killed: free man for free man, slave for slave, female for female. But if someone is absolved by his brother, blood-money should be claimed with correctness and paid with good will. That is an easement and a mercy from your Lord. Anyone who goes beyond the limits after this will receive a painful punishment. (Qur'an 2:178) There is life for you in retaliation, people of intelligence, so that hopefully you will have taqwa. (Qur'an 2:179)

But as for those who break Allah’s contract after it has been agreed and sever what Allah has commanded to be joined, and cause corruption in the earth, the curse will be upon them. They will have the Evil Abode. (Qur'an 13:25)

If anyone argues with you about him after the knowledge that has come to you, say, ‘Come then! Let us summon our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves. Then let us make earnest supplication and call down the curse of Allah upon the liars.’ (Qur'an 3:61)

7. Some Hadith regarding Madeenah:

The prophet (pbuh) is reported to have something like this in the following Hadith:

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 30, Number 91: Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "Medina is a sanctuary from that place to that. Its trees should not be cut and no heresy should be innovated nor any sin should be committed in it, and whoever innovates in it an heresy or commits sins (bad deeds), then he will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people." (See Hadith No. 409, Vol 9).

Sahih Bukhari: Volume 3, Book 30, Number 101:
Narrated Sad: I heard the Prophet saying, "None plots against the people of Medina but that he will be dissolved (destroyed) like the salt is dissolved in water."

It is an established historical fact that during Yazeed's reign, when Madeenah was attacked, various crimes were commited against Madinese including killing of Sahaaba and crimes against women, and then Kaaba was also damaged during Yazeed reign, rather demolished. During the siege in which Kaaba was demolished, Yazeed's days came to an end and he died. The siege was lifted, when news came of Yazeed's death. Think deeply and honestly on the fact that the siege was lifted by Yazeed's army after hearing news of his death.

8. Many Sunni Historians have severely criticized Yazeed, but I will only quote the famous scholar Ibn-e-Katheer whose works are still being widely used by almost all Sunni sects, even his books which have been directly extracted from the very book that severely criticizes Yazeed i.e. the famous al-Bidayah wa al-Nihayah :

Atleast see what this famous sunni scholar has to say on Yazeed.

Proofs that well circulated and popular books by Ibn-e-Kathir in use today have been extracted from the same book al-Bidayah wa al-Nihayah which in which Ibn-e-Kathir has criticized Yazeed very much:

1. Stories of the Prophets

www.azharacademy.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idProduct=176

Translation of the portion of Ibn Kathir's al-Bidayah wa al-Nihayah which deals with the Stories of the Prophets, Qisas al-Anbiyaa'. Regarded as one of the most authentic work on the subject.

2. Before & After The Last Hour

www.azharacademy.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idProduct=1327

This book by Ibn Kathir concerns portents of the Last Hour and the trials that humanity will face before it.

This is a translation of Al-Fitan wa Al-Malahim, the last volume of Imam Ibn Kathirs famous book Al-Bidaya Wa An-Nihaya.

3. Siratun Nabi

www.azharacademy.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idProduct=1303

Allamah Ibn Kathir's Seerat an-Nabi is a great work in Al-Bidayah wa an-Nihayah. While it has been translated into Urdu, it's English translation was long awaited.

4. The Ummahs of the Past

www.azharacademy.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idProduct=1735

Thr translation of the portion of Ibn Kathir's al-Bidayah wa aln-Nihayah which discusses the events after the death of the Prophet 'Eesa (peace be upon him) to the last days of the Fatrah (the period in which no Prophet was sent after the Prophet 'Eesa and before the Messenger of Allah ) excluding the days of the Arabs and their ignorance.

Then Ibn-e-Katheers' Tafsir is very famous.

Now coming back to this book al-Bidayah wa al-Nihayah from which atleast 4 famous books still in frequent use have been extracted, see how he criticizes Yazeed. Note I am only quoting a few selections and these will be sufficient to show the manner in which Yazeed bin Muawiya has been criticized by Ibn-e-Katheer. For full details read this book, specially volume 8.

I have even uploaded the scanned pages from Urdu translation of the book for additional strength. Verify from the Urdu version to compare my English translation with the actual book translation in Urdu.

"...Traditions inform us that Yazeed was known for musical instruments, drinking alcohol, singing songs, hunting, making slaves and female slaves, keeping dogs, Making frogs, bears and monkeys fight. Every morning he used be intoxicated and used to bind monkey with the saddle of a horse and make it (the horse) run, and made the monkey wear a gold cap and similar was the fate of slaves. And he used to have horse race and when a monkey died, he became saddened on that and according to the saying of some, the cause of his death was that he lifted a monkey and started making it dance, so it (the monkey) bit him. And besides this people have said other things regarding him. Only ALLAH knows best, the soundness of these..." (In my opinion, neither can we guarantee all of the above things as true, nor can we guarantee all of the above as false.)

http://asimiqbal2nd.downloads.googlepages.com/al_bidayah_v8_p1146.jpg
"...And Yazeed committed a heinous mistake by ordering Muslim bin Uqbah to make Medina Mubah for three days and this was a most horrible mistake and it includes killing of many Sahaba and their children. And it has already been mentioned that he had Ubaidullah Ibn Ziyad kill the grandson of Rasulullah (pbuh), Husayn and his companions and in those three days (during which he made Madinah Mubah) uncountable corrupt acts happened in Madina about which nobody knows except Allah. And by sending Muslim bin Uqba, he (Yazeed) wanted to secure and strengthen his governance and not have any one to resist/fight, he wanted to increase his days (in power), but Allah did against his wishes and punished him and and intervened against his (Yazeed's) plan. Thus, Allah, WHO is the destroyer of the 4, destroyed him (Yazeed), and HE Gripped like a Sovereign King and similarly your Lord seized the wrongdoing cities and no doubt HIS Grip is painful and violent."

(Comments: "Such is the Iron Grip of your Lord when He Seizes the cities which do wrong. His grip is painful, violent. (Qur'an 11:102)")

http://asimiqbal2nd.downloads.googlepages.com/al_bidayah_v8_p1147.jpg

(Many Hadiths are quoted by Ibn-e-Katheer whose authenticity may be checked again by Hadith experts but 1 such Hadith in which the Prophet (pbuh) is reported to have said something like this: )
"Rasulullah (pbuh) said whoever frightened the residents of Medina, Allah will frighten him and the curse (la'nat) of Allah (swt), His Angels and all people will be on such a person"

(Similarly for details read the above scanned page. I don't guarantee the authenticity of these Hadith, but Hadith experts may give their comments on such Hadith.)

Another quotation from the above book, but I couldn't get the scanned version for this reference:
Again from al Bidayah: ‘When Yazeed wrote to Ibn Ziyad ordering him to fight Ibn Zubayr in Makka, he said ‘I can’t obey this fasiq. I killed the grandson of Rasulullah (pbuh) upon his orders, I’m not now going to assault the Kaaba’.

In short, according to Ibn-e-Katheer, Yazeed was responsible for martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain (RA) and his companions. According to Ibn-e-Katheer Yazeed was responsible for al-Harra and the shameless attack on Madina. According to Ibn-e-Katheer yazeed had many bad and un-Islamic habbits.

9. Demolition of Kaaba during Yazeed reign:

Islam QA answer quoted at the beginning refers to : ...There were many revolts against him (Yazeed) after al-Husayn, such as the people of Madeenah who revolted for the sake of Allaah, and Ibn al-Zubayr...

(Note: Hazrat Ibn al-Zubayr was a sahaabi)

Attempt was made to crush this revolt and in that attempt Yazeed's army even demolished the Kaaba during the seige.

Reference Link : ...The building (Kaaba) remained in that condition until `Abdullah Ibn Az-Zubair established his rule over Hijaz during the reign of Yazid Ibn Mu`awiyah. Husain Ibn Numair, the commander of Yazid's army, besieged him at Makkah and struck the Ka`bah with catapult. The Ka`bah was demolished, the 'Al-Kiswah' (covering of the Ka`bah) and some roof timbers were burnt down. The siege was lifted when news came of Yazid's death...

Note: The siege was lifted when news came of Yazid's death...

10. Some other Sunni scholars comments on Yazeed:

Ibn-e-Jauzi's comments on yazeed:

Ibn Jauzi in Wafa al-Wafa: ‘Yazeed appointed his cousin Uthman bin Muhammad bin Abu Sufyan as Governor of Madina. He sent a delegation to visit Yazeed who bore gifts so that they might take the oath of allegiance to him. Upon their return they said ‘We have returned having visited a man who has no religion, he drinks, plays instruments, keeps the company of singers and dogs, we declare that we have broken our allegiance to him. Abdullah bin Abi Umro bin Hafs Mukhzumee commented ‘Yazeed gave me gifts. But the reality is this man is an enemy of Allah (SWT) and a drunkard. I shall separate myself from him in the same way that I remove my turban [from my head]….’

Ibn Taymeeya’s comments on Yazeed
Ibn Taymeeya in Minhajj: ‘Yazeed had the sword and hence he had the power to deal with anyone that opposed him. He had the power to reward his subjects with the contents of the treasury, and could also withhold their rights. He had the power to punish criminals; it is in this context that we can understand that he was the khalifah and king. Issues such as Yazeed’s piety or lack of it, or his honesty or lack of it, is another matter. In all of his actions Yazeed was not just, there is no dispute amongst the people of Islam on this matter.

Some Sunni scholars even go to this length against Yazeed:
Ibn Katheer is reported to have stated in al Bidaya: ‘Whoever frightens Medina incurs the curse of Allah, His Angels and all the people - and some Ulema have deemed it permissible to curse Yazeed. This includes individuals such as Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Allamah Hilalee, Abu Bakr Abdul Aziz, Qadhi Abu Ya’ala and his son Qadhi Abu Husayn. Ibn Jauzi wrote a book deeming it permissible to curse Yazeed.’

11. Dr Zakir Naik on neither loving nor cursing Yazeed but praying for Yazeed personally or saying RA with Yazeed:

Some say they neither love Yazeed nor curse him, but then they say RA with Yazeed, which means they themselves don't love Yazeed, but they allege that ALLAH loves a person like Yazeed and is well pleased with Yazeed. This is a big allegation on ALLAH's independent decision which needs irrefutable proofs to even think about making this statement.

If some Yazeed lover says, Yazeed was not involved and his army and commanders were the ones who killed the family of Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Aalihi Wa sahbihi wa Sallam), then what did Yazeed do to them, like Ibn Ziyad, Shimr ziljoushan, Ibn Sa’ad, and others. Were they brought to justice? No. What is the answer of Yazeed lovers on this issue. But wait, Madeenah was also brutally attacked and Kaaba was also demolished during Yazeed reign.

Then prayer of Dr Zakir Naik May ALLAH be Pleased with Yazeed is also wrong. Why does he pray by name for a person like Yazeed.

To say this prayer he needs to be 100% sure Yazeed has nothing at all to do with martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain (RA) or the fact that severed head of Hazrat Hussain (RA) was taken to Yazeed or has nothing to do with not getting Qisaas for the martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain from the ones responsible or for not bringing the criminals to justice. For 100% surity, he must bring undisputed historical data to prove his point.

To say this Dr Zakir Naik has to be 100% sure Yazeed has nothing at all to do with the attack on Madinese and shameless crimes against madinese. For 100% surity, he must bring undisputed historical data to prove his point.

To say this Dr Zakir Naik has to be 100% sure Yazeed has nothing to do with the demolition of Kaaba. For 100% surity, he must bring undisputed historical data to prove his point.

The fact is there is no historical data that can prove such extreme and illogical statements needed to make such a prayer for a person like Yazeed. As any logical person will be careful to say something like this about a person who may turn out as the real vilian on these issues on the Day of Judgement.

12. Regarding general and specific prayers:

Thus Dr. Zakir Naik after mentioning the name of Yazeed, who is a Taba’een, he followed his name with (May Allah be pleased with him). To pray for the Muslims is also instructed by Allah (swt) in the Glorious Qur’an – 98:8, 9:100 and 58:22.

Comments:

Now lets move on to prayers. Lets first quote translations for the Ayaat Dr Zakir referred to:

Their reward is with their Lord: Gardens of Eden with rivers flowing under them, remaining in them timelessly, for ever and ever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. That is for those who fear their Lord. (Qur'an 98:8)

The forerunners–the first of the Migrants (Muhajirun) and the Supporters (Ansar)–and those who have followed them in doing good: Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. He has prepared Gardens for them with rivers flowing under them, remaining in them timelessly, for ever and ever. That is the great victory. (Qur'an 9:100)

You will not find people who believe in Allah and the Last Day having love for anyone who opposes Allah and His Messenger, though they be their fathers, their sons, their brothers or their clan. Allah has inscribed faith upon such people’s hearts and will reinforce them with a Spirit from Him and admit them into Gardens with rivers flowing under them, remaining in them timelessly, for ever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. Such people are the party of Allah. Truly it is the party of Allah who are successful. (Qur'an 58:22)

As you might notice, Dr Zakir Naik has made another mistake, the Ayat he gave reference to, may be on the terms Radi Allahu Anhu but not on praying for Muslims.

Note: regarding use of Ibrahim's (pbuh) Aal as reference. Aal-e-Ibraahim referred to in the durood in salaat has been interpreted as progeny of Ibraahim (pbuh). If this is not taken by Islamic scholars in Durood to mean progeny, then the weight of those specific arguments totally dependent on this interpretation is automatically null and void.

General prayers and different and praying by name is different. In salaat we say Durood in which we say regarding the progeny of Ibraahim (pbuh) as reference and thus do this atleast a dozen times daily. We know, not all of the progeny of Ibrahim are Muslims and some are even Kaafir. Some Jews, some Christians, ALLAH knows exactly how many religions are being followed by the progeny of Ibrahim (pbuh) that exist today or that ever existed from his time to the day of judgement.  So what does this general reference mean. Do you allege that more than a billion Muslims today and all Muslims from the time of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) till the Day of Judgement refer to all the progeny of Ibrahim (pbuh), each and every one of them, from the time of Ibrahim (pbuh) to the day of judgement? I think it only refers to the ones who in the sight of ALLAH deserve this honor. Based on this it will be illogical, if a person uses this or a similar reason as an excuse to pray for a controvertial historical figure or prays for any one he likes even if that individual has been personally criticized by many.

It is understood or atleast something similar is understood that the references are actually to those for who deserved it and has benefitted the ones who are elidgible to benefit from it. This doesn't sanction that you make this as an excuse to start praying for any one you like from the progeny of Ibrahim (pbuh). Only ALLAH Knows the Exact Truth.

Never pray over any of them who die or stand at their graves. They rejected Allah and His Messenger and died as deviators. (Qur'an 9:84)

Remember when Ibrahim was tested by his LORD with certain words which he carried out completely. HE said, ‘I will make you a model for mankind.’ He asked, ‘And what of my descendants?’ HE said, ‘My contract does not include the wrongdoers. (Qur'an 2:124)

Again, in salaat, we say at the end of salaat something in Arabic which can be translated as something like this ...Forgive me, and my parents and the muminun (believers)...

Now this prayer includes those ALLAH considers as muminun. And ALLAH Knows the Exact Truth. Just as we can't declare any Muslim as confirmed munaafiq in the sight of ALLAH without evidences, we can't guarantee some one who calls himself Muslim as confirmed Mumin in the sight of ALLAH's and ALLAH's Final Judgement regarding that person withoout evidences can't be guaranteed by people like us. And ALLAH Knows the Exact Truth.

Many qualities of muminun have been described in the Qur'an. The article will become too long, if I start quoting all those Ayaat's translations. Anyway a few translations are being presented, and since I didn't quote all the Ayaat describing Muminun in the Qur'an, the picture you may get regarding qualities of believers will not be complete, so don't take these as the only qualities of believers mentioned in the Qur'an and keep your mind open for more and it is good to read the Qur'an frequently with understanding again and again.

The desert Arabs say, ‘We believe.’ Say: ‘You do not believe. Say rather, "We have become Muslim," for faith has not yet entered into your hearts. If you obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not undervalue your actions in any way. Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.’ (Qur'an 49:14) The believers are only those who have believed in Allah and His Messenger and then have had no doubt and have done jihad with their wealth and themselves in the Way of Allah. They are the ones who are true to their word. (Qur'an 49:15)

No, by your Lord, they are not believers until they make you ( i.e. Muhammad (pbuh) their judge in the disputes that break out between them, and then find no resistance within themselves to what you decide and submit themselves completely. (Qur'an 4:65)

Those who repent, those who worship, those who praise, those who fast, those who bow, those who prostrate, those who command the right, those who forbid the wrong, those who preserve the limits (imposed) by Allah: give good news to the believers. (Qur'an 9:112)

Allah has bought from the believers their selves and their wealth in return for the Garden. They do Qital in the Way of Allah and they kill and are killed. It is a promise binding on Him in the Torah, the Gospel and the Qur’an and who is truer to his contract than Allah? Rejoice then in the bargain you have made. That is the great victory. (Qur'an 9:111)

Your friend is only Allah and His Messenger and those who believe: those who establish salaat and give zakat, and bow. (Qur'an 5:55)

The men and women of the believers are friends of one another. They command what is right and forbid what is wrong, and establish and give zakat, and obey Allah and His Messenger. They are the people on whom Allah will have mercy. Allah is Almighty, All-Wise. (Qur'an 9:71)

The reply of the believers when they are summoned to Allah and His Messenger so that he can judge between them, is to say, ‘We hear and we obey.’ They are ones who are successful. (Qur'an 24:51)

You who believe! Have taqwa of Allah and forgo any remaining usury if you are believers. If you do not, know that it means war from Allah and His Messenger. But if you repent you may have your capital, without wronging and without being wronged. (Qur'an 2:278-279)

13. Quotation of a statement attributed to Ghazali by Dr Zakir Naik:

Some are even in favour of Yazeed like the revered scholar Imam Ghazaali.

When Imam Ghazaali was asked if it was all right to curse Yazeed, he replied “No”. He was asked was it all right to say “rahimahullah”? He said “Yes it is Mustahab (highly recommended).” [Qaid as Shareed min Akhbar e Yazeed pg 57-59].

Imam Ghazaali further said, “Yazeed was a Muslim and when we pray for the Muslims “Allhummagfirli Muslimineen was Muslimaat (O Allah forgive the Musilms men and women) he is also included in our prayers.” [Qaid as Shareed min Akhbar e Yazeed pg 57-59].

Comments and Refutation:

Does Dr Zakir Naik accept sufism and recommend any works of sufism or even any of Ghazali's book. If not, then this is what I call defending personal stance by hook or by crook. Here Dr Zakir Naik ignores the comments of Ibn-e-Kathir, whose works he otherwise uses and recommends and jumps directly to Ghazali and we know Dr Zakir Naik's stance against Sufism.

www.ghazali.org/articles/gz1.htm

...Al-Ghazali explained in his autobiography why he renounced his brilliant career and turned to Sufism. It was, he says, due to his realization that there was no way to certain knowledge or the conviction of revelatory truth except through Sufism...

...It was only later that he finally attained to that truth in the ecstatic state (fana’) of the Sufi...

... Ghazali committed himself seriously to Sufism in his later life, during which time he produced a series of unique works on Sufism and ethics including Mizan al-‘amal (The Balance of Action), composed just before retirement, Ihy’ ‘ulum al-din, his magnum opus written after retirement, Kitab al-arba‘in fi usul al-din (The Forty Chapters on the Principles of Religion), Kimiya’-yi sa‘adat (The Alchemy of Happiness), Mishkat al-anwar (The Niche of the Lights) and others....

Ask Dr Zakir Naik what he thinks about these views of sufis and Ghazali. Dr Zakir Naik has no right to quote Ghazali's views or any sufi's views. If he continues to resort to this tactic, I will also start quoting views of other sects of Islam even if their works I don't study or recommend.

Why does IRF call Ghazali as a revered scholar and imam. Seeing meaning of revered in thesaurus: revered means (worshiped, venerated, well regarded, admired, honored, valued, respected). Is Ghazali a such a scholar among all Ahl-us-Sunnah Wal Jamaah sects? Is Ghazali considered as an Imam by all Ahl-us-Sunnah Wa Jamaah sects?

Here is the site regarding Ghazali:

http://www.ghazali.org

Now, here I have presented a site regarding Ghazali, I want to know which of the works of Ghazali mentioned in the site does Dr Zakir Naik follow or recommend to masses. i.e. here Ghazali becomes Hujjat-ul-Islam for Dr Zakir Naik on Yazeed issue. Is Ghazali Hujjat-ul-Islam for Dr Zakir Naik on other issues or is Ghazali a sufi whose works are not to be followed by masses in Dr Zakir Naik's opinion in remaining issues of Islam. Then, why does Ibn-e-Katheer become baseless for Dr Zakir Naik on Yazeed issue while he himself recommends Tafsir Ibn-e-Katheer and other works, and Ghazali's opinion, becomes Dr Zakir's hujjat and proof in this regard. Has Ghazali presented any arguments and evidences for such opinions if these statements belong to him.

Why did some one ask Ghazali regarding whether it is right to curse Yazid? i.e. the question of cursing itself, indicates what many people may have been thinking about Yazeed back then.

2ndly Did Ghazali know and discuss in detail the difference between Yazeed bin Muawiyah and Yazeed bin Abu Sufyan. Was Ghazali referring to Yazeed bin Muawiyah.

If it is mustahab to say Rahimullah, then this statement needs solid proofs, i.e. on which evidence in the Qur'an, authentic Hadith allows 1 to say it is Mustahab to say Rahimullah with Yazeed. These proofs aren't there as proven with the arguments earlier as we can't say Radi Allahu Anhu without solid proofs, similarly we shouldn't say Rahimullah for Yazeed, without solid proofs, which aren't there as proven earlier.

And general prayers are different and specific personal prayers are different as proven earlier and general prayers can't be used as evidence to pray for any one we like.

As for anyone who kills a believer deliberately, his repayment is Hell, remaining in it timelessly, for ever. Allah is angry with him and has cursed him, and has prepared for him a terrible punishment. (Qur'an 4:93)

Suppose a Muslim kills a believer deliberately without any genuine reason. Based on the above Qur'anic references, we may say, he is eligible for Anger and Curse of ALLAH, and will be as if he had murdered all mankind. Now lets move to general prayers, suppose general prayers are made for Muslims, suppose these are made by Muslims till the day of Judgement, will this person be included in the range of such prayers? will this person be eligible to benefit from these prayers, does this general prayer give anyone an excuse to pray for the murderer by name?

In short:

1. It is an established historical fact that Hazrat Hussain (RA) and his Noble Companions were martyred during Yazeed reign and his head was taken to Yazeed.

2. Al-Harrah during Yazeed reign is an established historical fact.

3. The shameless attack on Madina in which many Sahabah were martyred and many crimes were committed against Madinese which I can't even describe on this site was during Yazid reign is another established historical fact.

4. The demolition of Kaaba itself during Yazeed reign is another established historical fact.

5. The siege in which Kaaba was demolished was lifted on hearing news of Yazeed's death.

Why would one say RA for Yazeed? Why? Again Why? No sect makes it compulsary to say RA with Yazeed. Why is some one hell bent to say RA with Yazeed. Even those very few people who put the blame of Hazrat Hussain (RA)'s martyrdom on someone else forget that his head was taken to Yazeed and no one was punished by Yazeed for doing this. And Hazrat Hussain's (RA) martyrdom is not the only crime committed during Yazeed reign, Madinese were attacked and many Sahaaba were martyred and many crimes were committed against Madinese, Kaaba itself was demolished during Yazeed reign.

So in the light of above evidences it is not advisable for any Muslim today to say RA with Yazeed or even pray for Yazeed by name.

And, if Yazeed deserves the curse and if the Hadith referred to by Ibn-e-Katheer regarding Madinah "whoever frightened the residents of Medina, Allah will frighten him and the curse (la'nat) of Allah (swt), His Angels and all people will be on such a person" is authentic and if Yazeed comes under the range and scope of this Hadith, then even Dr Zakir Naik's curse is going to Yazeed, and so no point for any one to personally curse Yazeed. Leave him and don't personally curse him. Curse is a dangerous thing for the one cursing as there is a possibility that if the person being cursed, is not eligible for the curse, the curse will hit the one who uttered the curse.

Conclusion:

The above criticism regarding Yazeed are the quotations of the ones whose quotations are quoted. I simply proved that there is no proof that allows any one to say RA with Yazeed. I personally can't guarantee that everything said regarding Yazeed above is true, and Dr Zakir Naik can't guarantee that everything said regarding Yazeed above is false. So I say, don't say RA with Yazeed, don't say May ALLAH be Pleased with him for Yazeed and don't curse Yazeed.

I ask ALLAH to forgive me for any mistakes in my writings or deeds.

ALLAH is enough to Judge Yazeed and hold him accountable for his deeds.

...Say nothing but the truth about Allah...(Qur'an 4:171)

Do not pursue what you have no knowledge of. Hearing, sight and hearts will all be questioned. (Qur'an 17:36)

Those who listen well to what is said and follow the best of it, they are the ones whom Allah has guided, they are the people of intelligence. (Qur'an 39:18)

(Qur'an 29:68)

...Say, ‘Produce your evidence if you are telling the truth.’ (Qur'an 2:111)

...Say: 'Produce your proof! This is the message of those with me and the message of those before me.' But most of them do not know the truth, so they turn away. (Qur'an 21:24)

...Say: ‘Bring your proof if you are being truthful.’ (Qur'an 27:64)
